Jelani Aliyu Urges Nigerian Students to Drive Innovation Through Technology at GHA Tech Fair

Renowned Nigerian automobile designer, Jelani Aliyu, has called on students nationwide to embrace technology-driven innovations as a pathway to solving national challenges sustainably.
Speaking at the GHA Tech Fair, a science and technology exhibition organized by students of Great Heights Academy (GHA), Abuja, Aliyu expressed admiration for the creativity and problem-solving mindset displayed by the young innovators. The event showcased a range of student-led technological inventions aimed at addressing real-world issues.

The exhibition featured projects such as a smart water monitoring and control system, a smart gas level detector, a voice assistant robot, a smart soil irrigation system, a farm intruder alert system, an automatic rain shield, as well as advancements in 3D modeling and printing among others —all developed by GHA students.
“What we are experiencing here today is absolutely impressive. We have seen what young minds can envision and bring to life. At first, these were just ideas, but now, we are witnessing tangible technological solutions designed to tackle everyday challenges,” Aliyu remarked.
He stressed the importance of fostering more such initiatives in schools, encouraging institutions to nurture technological innovation among students. Aliyu further called on companies in Nigeria and beyond to support young innovators, invest in their ideas, and help scale their projects into commercially viable solutions.

“The solutions are right here,” he said. “These young minds are incredibly bright, and we need both local and international companies to step in, collaborate, and help them grow. The world is evolving, and we must meet global challenges by continuously innovating.”

Great Heights Academy’s Commitment to Innovation
The Principal of Great Heights Academy, Hajiya Hussaina Abdu, expressed immense pride in the students’ achievements. She described the GHA Tech Fair as a platform where creativity meets innovation.
“Technology is transforming industries and redefining education,” she noted. “At Great Heights Academy, we equip our students with the skills necessary to thrive in an ever-evolving world. Through our partnership with New Horizons Systems Solutions Limited, our students have made remarkable strides in robotics, automation, Python programming, 3D design and printing, and graphics.”
She emphasized that the students were not just learning but actively creating real-life solutions.
“Some of these projects have the potential for real-world application. We invite stakeholders, investors, and industry leaders to partner with us in scaling these innovations beyond the school environment,” she added.
According to her, the GHA Tech Fair is not just an exhibition but a movement toward a future where young minds lead the way in technological advancements for the greater good.
