In an electrifying display of technological prowess, students of Great Heights Academy unleashed their digital talents during the highly anticipated Robotics Talent Hunt programme organized by the Robotics/ICT Department. The event, held last Thursday, 15^th June, 2023, provided a platform for aspiring tech enthusiasts to demonstrate their skills in robotics, programming, and graphic design. With a thrilling line up of competitions, the atmosphere was charged with excitement as students pushed the boundaries of innovation and creativity.

Robotic Marvels: Ez-Robot Programming and Track Race

The event kicked off with the captivating Ez-Robot Programming challenge, where students delved into the realm of artificial intelligence to program robots capable of performing human tasks. The competition showcased remarkable skills in image recognition and track race manoeuvres. In the intense Image Recognition category, the Technoor team, comprised of Fatima Ibrahim Adamu, Sa’adah Lawal, Nana A’isha Bashir Haiba, and Maimuna Sani Ahmad, emerged triumphant, displaying their exceptional programming abilities. The runner-up position was secured by the Robostars team, featuring Aisha Matori, Habiba Ibrahim Gogo, Fadila Bashir and Zahra Musa Yusuf.

In the adrenaline-fueled Track Race category, Team Roboqueens and Team Robosisters battled fiercely for victory. Ultimately, it was Team Roboqueens, represented by Nabila Muhammad Ize, Hajara Muhammad, Fatima Sa’ad and Fadimatu Shehu, who crossed the finish line first, leaving a trail of excitement in their wake.

Web Design Excellence: Unleashing Creative Websites

The competition also celebrated the artistry of web design, as participants took on the challenge of creating dynamic websites using Google Servers. The Dynamic 7 team captivated the audience with their remarkable designs. Farida Bello claimed the coveted first-place position with her captivating website, followed closely by Fatima Grema Terab in second place, and Khadijah Muhammad Hussain securing the third-place spot.

Unleashing Creativity: Graphics Design and Scratch Programming

With a focus on unleashing creativity, the Graphics Design segment, dubbed Graphic Fairies, pushed participants to showcase their originality by creating stunning designs from scratch. The results were nothing short of awe-inspiring. Fatima Sheriff’s artistic brilliance claimed the first-place honour, while Kameela Adamu Garba secured second place, and A’isha Jafaru Jaji earned a well-deserved third-place recognition. The talents of Fatima Baba Kalli were also recognized with a fourth-place finish.

The competition continued with Scratch Programming, where two teams, Teams Tecforce and Codequeens engaged in a battle of coding mastery. Codequeens emerged victorious, led by participants Ziyadah Kofoworola Adetona, Aisha Adegoke, and Afeefa Sule Yusuf. The runner-up position was claimed by Team Tecforce, with Fauziya Muhammad Sadiq, Hussaina Ashir, and Rashida Umar showcasing their remarkable programming skills.

Addressing the participants in his closing remarks, Mr. Odike Simon, the Vice Principal (Academics), extended his warm congratulations and commended their exceptional achievements. He emphasized the significance of embracing the digital world, highlighting that the future belongs to the digitally-savvy. With the school nurturing their talents and providing them with a platform to shine, the students are poised to make their mark in the ever-evolving technological landscape, both in their secondary school academic pursuits and beyond.
